Collector’s Log #6: New Year, New Grabs

It didn’t even take a full week into 2026 for some new games to arrive for my library. To be fair, I ordered these toward the end of December 2025, so they missed the cutoff by a couple of days… so they count as the first arrivals of the new year.

Let’s take a peek:

NBA 2K10 for Wii is nothing earth-shattering, but it’s been a minute since I’ve picked up a Wii game and I noticed that it’s one of the relatively few games on the console that supports the Classic/Pro Controller– which is my preferred way to play. I mean, I like Wii Sports (and Wii Sports Resort) a lot, but those motion controls are more intuitive than in most games that seem to rely on waggle. The game also uses Wii Speak, according to the back of the case. I don’t know if it’s still supported or how it even works, but I do have a Wii Speak module, so… maybe we’ll see. It’s also squarely in hoops season as I write this, so I’m curious to check this out and see how (or if) it holds up. This ran me $9 — maybe a little high for a sports game, but it did come complete with the cardboard slip cover, so that’s something.

RoadKill for the original Xbox is probably the highlight here. If you ever thought about how a mashup of Grand Theft Auto and Twisted Metal might come out, then RoadKill is worth a look. I own (and have played a little of) the PlayStation 2 version, and I’m hopeful that the usual technical/visual enhancements seen on XBox versions of games will hold true here. I’m typically not one for open-world/sandbox games, but the vehicular combat angle is the draw for me. Notably, I didn’t pay too much for this version at just $14 complete. That’s about $4 less than market. It’s the cheapest of the three SKUs. The PS2 version is now up over $20 complete, while the Gamecube version is nearing $50.

Ducati World Racing Challenge for the original PlayStation is a game that I have zero experience with. It does boost my library of games by one, nudging my count to 1,161. One review I read when deciding whether to buy it mentioned the magic “arcade-style” term, which is in my wheelhouse, though I admittedly struggle with motorcycle racing games in general. Even the most basic arcade games in this genre, like SEGA’s Super Hang-On, have proven tricky for me. Still… part of collecting for me is having a chance to try out a bunch of different games that I might not have played before. At $14, and considering the relatively small number of holes left in my original PlayStation library, it was worth a shot.

Finally, we have a notoriously bad game: Power Rangers Lightspeed Rescue for the Nintendo 64. The linked video is, quite literally, the reason I bought this game. I have zero experience or history with it, but I’ve watched that Rerez video so much that it felt like I needed to try it for myself. I was able to land it for $12.50, which is a shade under current market value… and I didn’t own it yet, so there’s my (attempted) justification. Hopefully it’s so bad it’s good. Or maybe I’ll get Sicko Syndrome and wind up genuinely liking it. Who’s to say?

I don’t buy many modern games in physical form these days, but I made an exception for this one:

I didn’t need to double-dip on Terminator 2D: NO FATE. I already have the game digitally for my XBox Series X and recently spotlighted it as my Favorite Throwback Game of 2025. However, this Collector’s Edition for Switch was hard for me to pass up– even at its triple-digit price tag. I wanted to grab one from Best Buy, but they had sold out quickly and there wasn’t any sign of replenishment on the horizon… so I found this on Amazon. I guess that, if I was going to double-dip, why not swing for the fences? I haven’t opened the Collector’s Case yet, but when I do… I’ll show off what’s inside. Maybe I’ll be compelled to write more about the game and share more about why I appreciate it so much.

I currently don’t have any games on order or any imminent plans to hit up any local game stores. Post-holiday bills may have me in a bit of a temporary holding pattern, but I have a feeling that Collector’s Log #7 won’t be that far off.
